Game, Product, and UI Design

In my current role as Director of Immersive Community, I'm in charge of a team producing an online community in a persistent virtual world.  My duties there include design of community features and game mechanics.

As Director of Program Management for the Big Fish Games Online Community, I designed and specified new product directions for the online community gaming service, in addition to designing and producing several of the games.

I was the Group Program Manager and one of the principal product designers for the Phantom Gaming Service.  This work includes both hardware and software design as they combine in the home gaming experience.

Before that I worked as Senior Product Designer and Program Manager specifying features and UI for a teen-targeted cell phone.  I've also been responsible for information architecture and interface design for corporate internet and intranet sites.  I've filed several design and UI patents.

Usability Studies and Focus Groups

I developed and ran usability studies to gather both physical and cognitive information.  I designed physical models, software simulators, and prototypes.  In addition, my group organized focus groups and "vox pop" street team events in the U.S. and Europe.

Analysis of the quantitative and qualitative results directly fed the feature and UI specification process.  I have particular experience working with teenage subjects.

Examples

I collaborated on the Phantom Gaming Service hardware industrial design and was principally responsible for the UI Design as well.
